Following
on from the previous issues round up of original aircraft;
we turn our attention to the rebirth of Yakovlevs' finest.
As alluded to in the first part of this series, it wasn't
until the early 1990s that there was any hope of seeing a
representative of this important combat aircraft graceing
the skies. With little chance of seing an original fly, the
only possible solution was to convert the postwar two-seat
Yak 11 trainer, or reopen the original production lines and
resume construction. Both options have been successfully
persued and we take a detailed look at the process. The new
aircraft have had their share of teething troubles, but with
a variety of modifications being made, they are now accepted
as being a very fine, and affordable, warbird.
